International students from all over the world are welcome to apply to the ECTRIMS Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Exchange Program if they are interested in conducting postdoctoral research in the fields of neuroscience and multiple sclerosis. The program’s goals include maximizing information sharing and assisting in the development of a group of skilled research scientists who are specifically interested in MS-related issues. At first, it is anticipated that several fellowships will be given out annually.

The ECTRIMS Research Fellowship is a program that emphasizes research. In collaboration with the fellowship mentor at the host institution, prospective fellows must choose and present a strong basic, clinical, or applied research project that will be carried out during the fellowship period.

Applicants seeking a study fellowship experience in any area of basic, applied, or clinical MS-related research in a suitable specialty region will be taken into consideration.

Coverage of Scholarships and Benefit

The benefits of an ECTRIMS Postdoctoral Research Fellowship are as follows:

Each fellow will receive a salary of €55,000 per year from the fellowship.
In addition, ECTRIMS will pay for round-trip, in-class transportation from the chosen candidate’s residence to the training facility; family members’ travel costs will not be covered.
The host institution will receive payment from ECTRIMS and will be regarded as the fellow’s employment. The host institution will give the fellow a stipend in accordance with their respective payment procedures and schedules. Upon submission of receipts to ECTRIMS, travel expenditures for relocation to the training site may be immediately reimbursed to the fellow.
The institution must use the ECTRIMS award to pay the fellow’s stipend (sometimes known as a “salary”) at the proper rate for the fellow’s stage of training.
If there are any leftover funds, they can be utilized to support any institutional social benefits (health insurance, pensions, and other benefits) that the institution may need.
It is the institution’s/responsibility mentor’s to supplement the ECTRIMS award to pay all necessary expenses if the total stipend + benefits exceeds the amount allocated by the award.
The host institution must specify the projected fellow’s annual total pay as well as annual total social benefits costs.
If the total required costs of the fellow (pay plus benefits) exceed the yearly or prorated ECTRIMS award, other sources of financing that will be used to cover the overall costs must be mentioned.
It is anticipated that the host university and mentor will provide funding for the actual research that will be conducted there.
There won’t be any more funding for travel, books, journal subscriptions, etc.
Throughout the duration of their fellowship, fellows will be required to attend yearly ECTRIMS Congresses and present their supported research (either at a young researcher’s section or in another setting).
Separate travel and lodging expenses for congress participation will be covered by ECTRIMS.

ECTRIMS Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Requirements

In order to be considered for an ECTRIMS Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, candidates must fulfill the requirements listed below:

Languages needed: Depending on the host institution’s requirements.
All nations in the world are eligible.
A candidate’s advanced degree(s) must have been earned before the fellowship began.
Fellows should have completed no more than a year of postdoctoral training at the same host institution or mentor at the time of application. Senior candidates must have no more than five years of postdoctoral experience in total at the time of application (PhD, MD, ScD, or equivalent).
Medical professionals and scientists who hold an MD, PhD, ScD, or an equivalent professional degree are eligible.
Successful candidates will typically be under 40 at the time of application; however, there may be exceptions in exceptional cases.
The training experience must go without interruption due to a language barrier, according to candidates and their mentors.
Any nationality may apply to this program, however postdoctoral research training must be completed at a European laboratory or medical facility.
To the degree practicable, the fellow should return to his or her original home institution to find work following the fellowship time, however this is not compulsory. Plans for post-fellowship employment should be fully described during the application process.

How To Apply For A Postdoctoral Research Fellowship With ECTRIMS?

To apply for the ECTRIMS Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Exchange Program, please follow the steps below:

(2) Complete the application.

(3) The following paperwork needs to be submitted with the fellowship application:

a condensed version of the applicant’s resume and bibliography, not to exceed five pages. You must utilize the “biographical sketch” form that ECTRIMS has made available in the online system for applying for fellowships.

A completed online application that can be accessed through the ECTRIMS website (www.ectrims.eu).

Career goals of the applicant (not to exceed one page).

A concise explanation of the research project, no more than 250 words.

A six-page maximum explanation of the research endeavor, with figures, tables, and references.

Proof of the applicant’s proficiency in the native tongue, such as a certificate.

(4) By December 1st, the following extra things must be sent electronically to [email protected]. These must be sent under strict confidentiality and NOT alongside the materials listed in Second Step. Please make sure to remind your referees to write the applicant’s NAME in large characters on each page of their letters.

Message from the training facility:

1) Should a fellowship be granted, a letter of support from the department chair (or other pertinent institutional official) at the proposed host institution accepting the proposed fellow.

2) A letter of acceptance from the training facility for the ECTRIMS fellowship and payments. The required form can be downloaded from the online application system; the applicant should send this form to the institution for completion before returning it to ECTRIMS.

A letter endorsing the proposed mentor with particular emphasis on interactions with the potential fellow and the suggested research plan is provided by the proposed mentor. For the prospective mentor, a condensed current curriculum vitae and bibliography, not to exceed five pages, should be included. Use the “biographical sketch” form that is available in the online fellowship application system. The mentor should get this paperwork from the candidate.

From additional referees: At least three letters of recommendation from individuals who are familiar with the proposed fellow, either from the fellow’s home institution or from abroad, outlining the fellow’s qualifications and chances of success in a research or clinical career. The degree mentor for the requested fellow should send one of these letters. if applicable, a letter from the home institution outlining the kind of post that will be open after the fellowship time is over and welcoming the fellow back to the institution.
