  • It is the institution’s/responsibility mentor’s to supplement the ECTRIMS award to pay all necessary expenses if the total stipend + benefits exceeds the amount allocated by the award.
  • The host institution must specify the projected fellow’s annual total pay as well as annual total social benefits costs.
  • If the total required costs of the fellow (pay plus benefits) exceed the yearly or prorated ECTRIMS award, other sources of financing that will be used to cover the overall costs must be mentioned.
  • It is anticipated that the host university and mentor will provide funding for the actual research that will be conducted there.
  • There won’t be any more funding for travel, books, journal subscriptions, etc.

ECTRIMS Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Requirements

In order to be considered for an ECTRIMS Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, candidates must fulfill the requirements listed below:

  • Languages needed: Depending on the host institution’s requirements.

  • A candidate’s advanced degree(s) must have been earned before the fellowship began.

Message from the training facility:

1) Should a fellowship be granted, a letter of support from the department chair (or other pertinent institutional official) at the proposed host institution accepting the proposed fellow.

2) A letter of acceptance from the training facility for the ECTRIMS fellowship and payments. The required form can be downloaded from the online application system; the applicant should send this form to the institution for completion before returning it to ECTRIMS.

A letter endorsing the proposed mentor with particular emphasis on interactions with the potential fellow and the suggested research plan is provided by the proposed mentor. For the prospective mentor, a condensed current curriculum vitae and bibliography, not to exceed five pages, should be included. Use the “biographical sketch” form that is available in the online fellowship application system. The mentor should get this paperwork from the candidate.

From additional referees: At least three letters of recommendation from individuals who are familiar with the proposed fellow, either from the fellow’s home institution or from abroad, outlining the fellow’s qualifications and chances of success in a research or clinical career. The degree mentor for the requested fellow should send one of these letters. if applicable, a letter from the home institution outlining the kind of post that will be open after the fellowship time is over and welcoming the fellow back to the institution.
